Drink Deep

In July 2021 Ethan visited me in Edinburgh. We first recorded this song in my living room with Ethan playing guitar, however it quickly became apparent that this needed to be a bigger production. We went to the Tron Kirk in Moredun and recorded on their grand piano. I used a midi trigger to pulse compressors on the synths and pads to create motion and the feeling of being amongst the waves. After an exciting couple of days working on the bones of the song together I brought many old friends onboard to furnish the arrangement. Using Ethan's piano parts from the intro, I created Sprit On The Waves, an atmospheric outro.

Drink Deep ended sitting on my hard drive almost untouched while busy-ness got the better of both of us until late 2023 when we rerecorded the vocals. Joel Sathyadass was in Liverpool at the time and added a guitar track. We finally felt the song was ready for release, so sent it off to be mastered.
