4am On Pierowall Bay

A collection of Scottish folk tunes arranged and performed by Rachel Groves. We recorded these pieces in one long session at Tone Garden Studio , above Summer Hall in Edinburgh, on the last weekend of the 2022 Fringe. The timing coincided with two of us moving away from the city, so production became a very extended, remote process. This gave me time to experiment with subtle additions of synths and samples to underline and backdrop the two performers. The main audio for Rachel's harp was recorded at a Fender amp which lead the sound to a more ethereal, electric sound rather than a more classic all natural sound for trad music.
